Prof. Subaie,
I was wondering if you have the time to give your opinion , as a psychiatrist on my research “Psychoanalysis and the Islamic way of life: a response to the question of woman”.
I was interested in your research studies on the women, the female and her relation to her body. Needless to say that it was on Islamic country. I badly need some references on that topic but from Islamic backgrounds. I searched for your studies on the KKUH on the web site it was unsuccessful still under construction. So that was my reason for writing to you.
I would like to give a brief explanation of one of the points I’m dealing with in my thesis. It is the notion of ‘the fragmented body’ I’m linking it to the question of the woman’s body. As we know that every woman has a problem with her own body or at least with one part of the body.

In Lacanain analysis refer this problem to the Mirror stage that is centric in ones subjectivity. It is a fundamental stage, when the child identify with his body image to become the master of the body. This first image so important to recognise her or him as ‘I’ and it tends to be miss recognised in the mental psychical processes, that image which Lacan called the fantasy of the fragmented body.
As we know that anorexics have a distorted image of their bodies. Lacan stated that the problem it is not that they don’t eat, but it is that they eat nothing. This is when the symptoms come to function as a communicative language, the symptoms on the body .the Nothing is the reason behind the illness or say the object of what they want to say.

That being said, I would like to know if I could find the following data in your studies:
1. The function of the father in the family.(harsh/deficiency ).His role.
2. Eating disorder: the relation to weaning complex (breast feeding)
3. The image of the body .as a Muslim female. Were there some special characteristics?
4. Was the body in the woman fantasy as parts only or as whole ,in other words as men ,the woman in their fantasy is only as parts of her body.
I’m sorry for taking long , I wish I am a bit clear in what I asked for.
